about the visit
Since 1998, we have been home to the largest freshwater aquarium in Central Europe, which is our pride and joy. We strive to introduce visitors to freshwater fish species that they would not normally have the chance to see in the Amazon. Most species here grow to much larger sizes than those listed in the literature. One example is the potamotrygon leopoldi black diamond stingray, which grew to almost 1.5 meters in diameter and was our first freshwater stingray. Or the caiman, which lived to be 54 years old. Some have even become so accustomed to divers that they let them feed them from their hands. Fish and other animals thrive here, which is why we have so many wonderful species.

Frequently asked questions
Yes, if you have your dog under control and it does not disturb other visitors, then you can of course bring it to the Giant Aquarium.
Is the aquarium wheelchair accessible?
The entrance to the Giant Aquarium is wheelchair accessible, except for the entrance to the tropical rainforest footbridge. This means you can easily access the tunnel under the water and take the elevator to our stingray projection and café, but unfortunately, there are narrow stairs leading to the walkway. We estimate that you can complete 3/4 of the tour. We also have a wheelchair-accessible restroom.
Is it possible to enter the Giant Aquarium with a stroller?
Basically, yes, the same applies as for barrier-free access. The ease of maneuvering a stroller also depends on the current occupancy of the tour.
What about parking at the Giant Aquarium?
Parking is available on the street in front of the aquarium and is free of charge.
How long is the tour?
The tour of the aquarium and tropical rainforest itself takes 30 minutes, and together with the projection and other areas, you will spend about 1.5 hours with us, or longer depending on your interest.
What are the opening hours on Mondays?
We have a cleaning day on Mondays throughout the year. However, if Monday falls on a school holiday (autumn, winter, spring, summer) or a public holiday, we are open from at least 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can always find the exact opening hours in the news section.
What are the opening hours on public holidays?
On publicholidays, we are usually open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. If they fall on a Monday, the opening hours are individual, but at least from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Day. You can always find the exact opening hours in the news section.
How much do relaxation evenings cost?
Relaxation evenings are very individual, depending on the requirements of each visitor, and their price is based on these requirements. The basic price for an evening with light refreshments is CZK 2,800 for two people. Reservations must be made well in advance.
I have an aquatic animal at home that no longer fits in my aquarium.
Please contact us if it fits into our exhibition theme, and we will be happy to discuss the conditions for its relocation with you—we can definitely accommodate it.
